| September 10 - 13, 2009 It's a new year and a new fair the 116th Wapping Fair! The fair will once again be held at Evergreen Walk, but will have approximately 100,000 square feet more than last year, which means more room for more fun! We’ve already begun to fill the extra space with plenty of new attractions, such as Yankee Pro Wrestling and Pony Rides, as well as many of the great attractions and exhibits that you’ve come to expect at the fair, including Robinson’s Racing Pigs/Paddling Porkers, the Ronald McDonald Show, Wapping Idol, the Little Miss/Mr. Farmer contest along with a stunning array of food and the wildly popular Saturday night fireworks. Once again, Sunday of the fair will be Family Fun Day, featuring games, contests and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.
Fairgoers can see a variety of animals during the fair, including the
three-day-old baby chicks, along with more than 700 baking and arts and
crafts exhibits on display for all to see. Exhibitors that win certain
quilting and baking categories are eligible to compete at the Connecticut
Fair Association meeting. Individuals of all ages are welcome to exhibit
their items. All children that enter are guaranteed a ribbon! Look for
our exhibitors guide on the agricultural section. Does the Wapping Fair have plenty of food? Boy, do we!! The fair has a variety of different foods for all to enjoy, including everyone's favorite hot dogs and hamburgers, pizza, baked potatoes, Harvest Hill Soup, Taiwanese food, sausage and peppers and more! For the 8th year now, the South Windsor Jaycees are the driving force behind the Wapping Fair. The Jaycees use the money raised by the fair each year to fund many community projects. We hope you will take a moment to learn more about the South Windsor Jaycees. More than 30,000 people started or renewed a tradition by visiting the Wapping Fair in 2007...why not do the same with your family and friends in 2008? We hope you enjoy your visit to the 116th Wapping Fair! |
